“Benevolence” was the final project for my Game Studio 1 class, where we were tasked with making a game that utilized Unity’s built-in physics system. This game, inspired by the god game genre, draws significant influence from the works of Peter Molyneux and his studio, known for their innovative approach to game design. Additionally, "Benevolence" incorporates elements from my personal favorite game, "Doshin the Giant," and is set against the melodic backdrop of Tatsuhiko Asano's "Lemonade," which serves as the game's soundtrack.
In its current form, "Benevolence" is akin to an interactive toy, allowing players to explore the virtual world and engage in divine acts of destruction. A significant amount of effort was invested in enhancing the game's visuals and sound effects (SFX), ensuring that the environment is not only aesthetically pleasing but also engaging and fun to explore, even for brief periods.
Looking ahead, there are plans to enrich the game further. One of the key goals is to introduce more compelling objectives for players, adding depth and purpose to their in-game actions. Additionally, there's an intent to develop more positive interactions between the player and the game's characters, often referred to as the "little guys." This expansion aims to create a more balanced and interactive experience, offering players a range of activities that go beyond the current focus on divine destruction.
